Results for the Nimrod 3 gun match held on July 19th 2025
It was pretty humid out at the range but with a nice breeze blowing for the Nimrod 3 gun match.
For this competition, each shooter uses three different firearms, a .22 rifle, a centerfire handgun and a centerfire rifle, prepositioned at three different stages on the range. At each stage the weapon is clear with an open chamber, magazine removed (or cylinder open) and safety on (if available). The first stage involves the .22 rifle fired at six small animal (chicken) steel silhouettes placed at 50 yards. The shooter starts with their back to the table and upon the start buzzer, must turn, load the weapon and fire one shot per target from left to right. After completing this stage, the shooter must clear the weapon, lay it on the table and then proceed to the second stage.
The second stage is the centerfire handgun fired at bowling pins placed on stands at 12 yards, firing one shot per pin from left to right. Once again, after completing this stage, the weapon must be cleared and placed on the table, then the shooter proceeds to the third stage.
In the the third stage, the centerfire rifle is used. The targets here are six four inch balloons placed at 50 yards. These must also be shot left to right with one shot per target.
Scoring is based on time with a five second penalty added for each miss. Time starts on the buzzer and ends after the sixth shot on the third stage. Each shooter went through this twice and the times were totaled for a final time score.
We had 11 members participating and the results were: (note that total times include penalties for misses)
